Blood Sword

Blender – Marmoset – Substance Painter

The model began with a high poly Sub D mesh to allow for detail sculpting before being baked down to a simple low poly mesh with textures.

This project began as a fun way to explore the visual style of my characters hero weapon. A sword that forms from drawing his own blood in battle.

Maps were all baked to a single 4k set following typical procedure for film applications. Textures were first created procedurally in Blender then painted over in substance for finishing touches. UV’s were layed out to use texel density for the sake of the procedural materials.

All in all, this was a very fun and satisfying evening project that let me explore a full hero asset pipeline from start to finish.
